The roots

Welcome—I'm glad you're here.

My own healing journey began over 18 years ago. Experiencing the transformation that comes from doing the work inspired me to help others find the same sense of freedom, clarity, and growth.

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a deep interest in the mind-body connection, neuroscience, and the power of human relationships. I’m trained in EMDR, a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and hold both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work. My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and tailored to the unique needs of each client—whether teen, adult, or family.

I draw from a range of evidence-based methods including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, CBT, IFS/parts work, attachment-based therapy, and narrative therapy. Our work together often includes psychoeducation to help you understand and make sense of your experiences, as well as tools to strengthen your mind-body connection, manage stress, and improve your relationships—with yourself and others.

I see therapy as a collaborative process. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance and perspective, while we follow your goals at a pace that feels right. I'm especially passionate about helping people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I also offer affirming support to the LGBTQIA+ community and to families seeking to better understand and support their LGBTQIA+ loved ones.

I believe it’s never too late to grow, heal, or make meaningful changes. If you feel we might be a good fit, I’d be honored to work with you.

Angela Seward, LMSW, SEP

Therapy

Individual Therapy

One-on-one counseling is provided in a trauma-informed space with unconditional positive regard for teens, and adults. Therapy can help you build mindfulness tools to manage your symptoms, process through traumas that may be contributing to these uncomfortable symptoms, and create an understanding of the self and why you are experiencing some of your symptoms.

EMDR & Trauma Therapy

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after such events, or experiences. Now, more than ever, we are understanding the long-term and pervasive effects that trauma can have on a person's well-being. Trauma can stem from a single violent traumatic event, or events that typically don't involve violence or disaster, but do create significant distress. Fortunately, there are evidence-based treatments that relieve present-day symptoms of anxiety and depression through reprocessing of the past. One modality that I am trained in is called Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Other highly effective models that I incorporate are called Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic Experiencing. These therapies are ideal for persons wanting to learn more about how they were impacted by traumatic experiences and are ready to reprocess the events to reduce their effects.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) Therapy

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) Therapy is a gentle, body-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. Rather than focusing solely on thoughts or memories, SE helps individuals tune into physical sensations to safely release stored tension and restore the nervous system’s natural balance. This evidence-informed method can reduce anxiety, improve emotional resilience, and support overall well-being by empowering the body’s innate capacity to heal.
